Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari has stated that if it is a matter of reconciliation, then the Sindh government owes many apologies.
Speaking in a TV program, Azma Bukhari stated that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) holds press conferences every day and uses abusive language daily. “If we don’t respond, then what should we do? PPP wants to weaken the federation, that’s why they have targeted the Punjab government.
She furhter said, “I don’t understand what PPP actually wants. Can’t our people hold press conferences? Can’t we use harsh words? We can, but we don’t have time for all that. What is Sindh’s problem? Why does Sindh want to interfere in Punjab’s matters? Sherry Rehman said in the Senate that a big crisis has hit, let us work. We are saying the same thing — let us work too.”
Azma Bukhari stated that many questions were raised about the BISP (Benazir Income Support Programme) survey. This survey is meant for poverty assessment, and a different kind of survey is being conducted in Punjab. I had stated that the BISP survey is of a different nature, yet the Punjab government was attacked based on it. What kind of politics is this? A survey is being conducted for flood victims. On October 17, checks will be distributed among them.”
She stated, “Our task is to complete the damage survey within a month and rehabilitate the flood victims in their homes. If it’s about reconciliation, the Sindh government owes many apologies. What should the Chief Minister of Punjab apologize for? They started it and ending it is also in their hands. If Maryam Nawaz does not speak about Punjab, then why is she the Chief Minister? People from Sindh play the Sindh card on every issue.”
