The Sindh government has approved a new social protection initiative providing quarterly financial assistance to children from birth up to the age of five.

The decision was taken at the third meeting of the Sindh Social Protection Authority’s board, chaired by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, where key measures were adopted to expand the province’s social safety net.

Under the programme, families will receive Rs3,000 every three months for eligible children. The scheme is expected to benefit approximately 885,000 children, alongside rural women who will also receive targeted financial support.

The board also approved a major Rs14 billion initiative aimed at strengthening early childhood development across the province.

Speaking at the meeting, the chief minister said the programme would include regular monitoring of child development, guidance on nutrition, and support for school readiness.

He added that rural women would be provided with monthly financial assistance during non-productive periods.

Officials said the measures are part of a broader effort to improve welfare outcomes and extend social protection to vulnerable groups across Sindh.
