KARACHI: The interim Sindh government announced a public holiday on December 27 (Wednesday) to mark the death anniversary of slain Pakistani prime minister Benazir Bhutto.
The 16th death anniversary of late PPP leader Benazir Bhutto will be observed with reverence in Sindh and parts of the region on Wednesday, and PPP has finalised arrangements to observe the martyrdom anniversary of the assassinated leader.
In accordance with the Benazir’s death anniversary, Sindh Caretaker Chief Minister Justice (r) Maqbool Baqar’s spokesperson announced public holiday.
“The Government of Sindh has been pleased to declare 27th December, 2023 (Wednesday) as a Public Holiday throughout the Province of Sindh on the occasion of Shahadat of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed for all offices, Autonomous, Semi-Autonomous Bodies, Corporations and Local Councils under the Administrative control of Government of Sindh, except the essential services,” said the notification issued today.
It said all offices, autonomous, semi-autonomous bodies, corporations and local councils under the administrative control of provincial government, except the essential services, will observe holiday.
Earlier, Sindh government declared December 26, 2023, as a Public Holiday for Christians only on the occasion of the Day after Christmas.
