KARACHI: City Administrator Iftikhar Ali Shallwani has been given additional charge of Karachi Commissioner.
The provincial government issued a notification and assigned him to hold additional charge of commissioner till further orders. The seat fell vacant after Dr Sohail Rajput was transferred to the federal government after being promoted to Grade-22.
In a notification issued by the Cabinet Secretariat, Establishment Division, Dr Rajput was promoted to the post of special secretary of the commerce division.
Dr Rajput was appointed as the commissioner in August 2020. He has been transferred to the federal government for the second time. In 2018, he served as an additional secretary for the finance ministry.
Shallwani, a grade-21 officer, had earlier served as city commissioner before being posted as city administrator after the elected local government tenure ended in August.
