Pakistan’s pace sensation, Shaheen Shah Afridi on Saturday equaled Umar Gul’s record of getting nine wickets in fthe irst over, during the first ODI against New Zealand in Lahore.

Shaheen’s lethal delivery to dismiss Will Young on just the fourth ball of the innings added another feather to his cap, known for his early breakthroughs.

Afridi’s impressive feat now places him as the joint-second Pakistani bowler with the most first-over ODI wickets, sharing the spot with Umar Gul. The record is currently co-held by former left-arm quick Mohammad Irfan and legendary swing bowler Wasim Akram, each boasting 10 wickets in the first over.
