The Sindh government on Thursday announced a holiday for schools and other educational institutions on February 14, on account of Shab-e-Barat, which falls on the 15th night of the ongoing Islamic month, Shaban.
Educational institutions across the province, under the administrative control of the Sindh schools and colleges department, will remain closed on Friday, February 14.
A notification regarding the public holiday on February 26 has announced that the holiday is in line with decisions made by Sindh’s sub-committee of the steering committee on education.
Shab-e-Barat, observed on the night between the 14th and 15th of Shaban (March 7), is one of the holiest nights in Islam, during which Muslims seek forgiveness from Allah.
Special religious gatherings will be held across the country, and people will also visit graveyards to offer prayers at the graves of their loved ones.
