ISLAMABAD: Senators have taken notice of the death of Capital Development Authority (CDA) director Roshan Khan who died under mysterious circumstances.
Well-informed sources said the Senate has ordered a three-member committee to investigate the death of Roshan Khan at the CDA Hospital. There have been apprehensions that the director was allegedly killed for highlighting corruption and embezzlement within the organisation.
An investigation team has been formed with the assistance of higher CDA officials to ascertain the facts surrounding his death CDA director Roshan Khan had accused CDA Hospital Executive Director Fayyaz Lodhi of massive embezzlement in medicines at the hospital and for possessing dual nationality.
Khan had also accused Lodhi of tampering official records to gain a promotion, and all objections were sent to Additional Secretary Ministry of Interior. The ministry had referred the case to the CDA for a high-level inquiry.
CDA said the case of Fayyaz Lodhi will be sent to Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and National Accountability Bureau (NAB) but no action was taken despite the passage of one year. The case was not returned back to the Interior Ministry either.
The complaint had been lodged directly at the ministry stating that CDA officials were not trusted and action should be taken. It is surprising that the Interior Ministry returned the case to the CDA rather than directly sending to the FIA.
Sources informed that it was necessary to investigate who ordered the case to be sent to the CDA, and who pressurised the federal body from not moving the cases further. These facts are expected to be revealed after an inquiry.
