KARACHI: The provincial government imposed Section 144 across Sindh on Wednesday following the intense public protest after the arrest of former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan.
A notification was also issued by the Sindh government for the imposition of Section 144 across the province.
All forms of public gatherings with more than four people will still be prohibited in the province after the regulation takes effect.
The government will take action in the event of a violation in accordance with Section 144,” the statement continued.
Following Imran Khan’s detention on Tuesday within the Islamabad High Court’s grounds, his party’s workers and fans demonstrated in numerous places across the country and engaged in combat with police.
The PTI leader was taken into custody by Rangers officers who were acting on a warrant issued by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) from the Islamabad High Court grounds, where the former premier had gone to request bail in numerous charges brought against him.
Later on, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) termed the arrest of former premier and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan ‘legal.’
