PESHAWAR/ZHOB: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is witnessing an unusual convergence of Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations this year, with three distinct dates observed across its districts due to regional moon-sighting differences.
While Eid was celebrated yesterday in Peshawar’s White Sand area and parts of North Waziristan, today’s festivities are underway in Bannu, Khyber, Mardan, Lakki Marwat, Charsadda, and Bajaur — after the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, operating under the federal government, declined to accept local moon-sighting reports from various parts of the province last night.

The remainder of the province will observe Eid tomorrow, Saturday, following the official announcement by the federal Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
Meanwhilie, Eid prayers were held with solemnity and community spirit across multiple locations. In Bajaur, Sheikh Hadith Maulana Attaullah Rahmani led prayers and delivered the sermon at Darul Uloom Rahmania, Navagai. In Razmak, North Waziristan, a large congregation gathered at the Ship Ground, attended by civil administration officials, Razmak Police Station personnel, and Rescue 1122 teams.
In Bannu, DIG Sajjad Khan and DPO Yasir Afridi joined police and military personnel in prayers at Police Lines, followed by special supplications for national security and the martyrs of law enforcement. Children of police officers were also greeted and gifted Eid presents.
