LAHORE: Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique has favored the idea of holding elections across the country on same day, adding that holding separate elections on different regions will only create division.
Talking to media on his arrival at local court here on Tuesday, he said elections were not like some play, and holding them on same day across the country would be a good thing.
Saad Rafique further said the country’s economic condition wasn’t good, as it was faced with floods of crises, adding that “we are not running away from elections, but the country can’t afford any further crisis.”
The federal minister said “in the past, we contested elections in some of the worst times, and Imran Khan was pitched against us (to contest elections) by force.” He further said that complying with the constitution was necessary but the country had witnessed delay in elections in the past as well.
He said “it is Imran Khan’s nature, if we accept his one demand, he will put forward another one.”
