KARACHI: Saad Edhi, who was recently released from Israeli custody, has returned to Pakistan and arrived at Karachi airport, where he was warmly received by his family and senior representatives of the Edhi Foundation.
At the airport, Saad Edhi was welcomed by his wife, his young daughter, and Edhi Foundation chairman Faisal Edhi. Former senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan, who was also previously released from Israeli custody, was among those present to receive him.
Speaking to the media after his arrival, Saad Edhi alleged that he was subjected to harsh treatment during his detention. He claimed that laser lights were used to disturb detainees and water was poured on the floor to prevent them from sleeping.
He further stated that detainees were reportedly forced to sit in stressful positions and were subjected to physical mistreatment, adding that individuals without American or European passports faced comparatively harsher treatment.
It is pertinent to mention that Saad Edhi was part of an international humanitarian flotilla attempting to break the Gaza blockade, which was intercepted by Israeli forces, leading to the detention of activists onboard.
