KARACHI: Police in Karachi’s Malir district have arrested an alleged serial rapist accused of targeting young women through fake job advertisements posted on social media platforms, officials said.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Majida Parveen, the main suspect, identified as Aamir Ali, was arrested along with three alleged accomplices — Zain, Noman and Saeed — during a raid conducted in the Malir area of Karachi.
Police officials said the accused allegedly used social media platforms to approach women by offering fake employment opportunities in order to lure them into traps.
During the investigation, the suspect reportedly confessed to sexually assaulting 17 to 18 women, police claimed. Authorities further stated that the accused is a habitual offender and has previously been involved in cases related to robbery and sexual assault in Karachi.
SSP Investigation Majida Parveen said one of the victims identified the main suspect during a court identification parade, strengthening the case against him.
Police said further investigations are underway to determine whether more individuals were involved in the crimes and to identify additional victims linked to the case.
