LONDON (Reuters): Russia has warned the United States against sending more weapons to Ukraine, saying arms shipments were fueling controversy and could cause further damage.
Tensions remain high following Russia’s February 24 attack on Ukraine, which could lead to a wider confrontation between Russia and the United States, the world’s two largest nuclear powers.
Rejecting the possibility of sending NATO forces to Ukraine, the United States and its European allies have provided Ukraine with weapons such as drones, Howitzer heavy artillery, anti-aircraft Stinger, and anti-tank javelin missiles.
Russia’s ambassador to the United States, Anatoly Antonov, has said that the supply of such weapons is aimed at weakening Russia and that Western nations are escalating the conflict in Ukraine and undermining efforts to reach a peace deal.
