In April this year, the biggest battle in the country’s political history was witnessed when Chairman PTI Imran Khan faced deprivation of the post of Prime Minister on April 10.
Some political tension was also seen earlier. the then deputy speaker NA Qasim Suri while rejecting the no-confidence motion said that they reject the foreign conspiracy on which PTI members and ministers raised slogans of “shame shame”.
As soon as Imran Khan stepped down from the post of Prime Minister, PTI members resigned from their positions, but the current NA Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf says that the resignations of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf MNAs were forged.
In his statement 2 days ago, Speaker Ashraf said that 2 to 3 members of PTI asked for fake signatures. 12 to 14 members said that they do not want to resign. 4 to 5 applied for leave.
Former Prime Minister and current Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervaiz Ashraf said that accepting the resignation of members is the most undesirable act for the speaker while the solution of the problems lies in the Grand Dialogue.
The question is whether PTI members really want to resign or not? Because if the members decide not to resign against the intention of party chairman Imran Khan, then their competence can be questioned.
It is possible that PTI may expel such members from the party, upon which they will automatically resign from their positions, but the position of Imran Khan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Fawad Chaudhry is very clear regarding resignations.
Earlier on July 29, Speaker of National Assembly Raja Pervaiz Ashraf had accepted the resignations of some Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf members, including Ali Muhammad Khan from NA-22, Fazal Muhammad Khan from NA-24, Shaukat Ali from NA-31.
Among the members whose resignations were accepted are Fakhar Zaman from NA 45, Farrukh Habib from NA 108, Ijaz Ahmad Shah from NA 118, Jameel Ahmed Khan from NA 237, Akram Cheema from NA 239 and NA 246. Abdul Shakur Shad was also involved.
The resignations of Dr. Maher Nisa, Shireen Mazari and Shandana Gulzar Khan were also accepted from the seats reserved for women, but the members who do not resign can use different pretexts.
On the other hand, due to non-participation in the meetings of the members of the National Assembly, other governmental factors including legislation are being adversely affected. Redressal of public problems should be the first priority for the members elected by the votes of the people.
