RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi police have allegedly involved in taking bribes and fake actions against poor people in different areas of the city.
Sources disclosed that every Friday the local police collecting brines worth millions of rupees from shopkeepers at Committee Chowk, Rachaur Bazaar areas.
On the other hand, despite all the evidence before the CPO and RPO, no action was taken against the corrupt police, sources said. Today, the police forcibly snatched a rooster from an 80-year-old man and pushed him away.
The aged victim appeared before the SHO at the police station on the orders of which he got the rooster back however, no action was taken against the police involved in the incident.
Earlier it was reported Wajid Bhatti, in-charge of the Amin Town check post of Pirwadhai police station, started extorting money from poor people by threatening them instead of curbing crime.
Sources said that the illegal police post in Amin Town has become a hub for extortion. Several people have already filed complaints against Wajid Bhatti along with the concerned police station but no action has been taken, sources added.
Sources disclosed that the police officials abducted a man, Abdul Rehman from a scrap shop at gunpoint and kept him at the check post in New Town. After the intervention of the locals, Wajid Bhatti released the man after torturing him, sources added.
After the release of the man the police official threatening him with dire consequences and snatching Rs 10,000 from his pocket, sources said. People have appealed to IGP and RPO Rawalpindi to take immediate departmental action against such black sheep and provide protection to the people.
