Former Pakistan Captain Ramiz Raja has criticised the Pakistan T20 squad announced for the home series against Bangladesh starting from 24th January at Gaddafi stadium in Lahore.
Ramiz Raja on his YouTube channel has also thrashed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) safe approach for selecting the T20 squad. He said, “I have a serious problem, I am angry after looking Pakistan T20I squad because the base of the selection is wrong.”
He said, “This type of approach means that Pakistani think tank is afraid of losing. The approach is not based on long term goals as they have picked Muhammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik and all of us know that they have played their best cricket in the past.”
Ramiz Raja thinks that there was no need of bringing back Shoaib and Hafeez in the side. The renowned commentator believes that if they were too important for the side, they should have toured Australia
“I can’t understand if Pakistan cricket will go ahead on these terms where will this end if you are afraid of losing and giving priority to selfish motives and not focusing on long term goals,” He added.
It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan team head coach and chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq announced a 15-men squad for the upcoming shorter format series. Mohammad Amir, Wahab Riaz, Fakhar Zaman, Imam Ali, Haris Sohail were the notable omission from the squad.
