Ramadan is expected to begin on Thursday, March 23 in some Arab countries and a later on March 24 in the sub-continent, according to astronomical calculations.
According to the International Astronomical Center, the first day of Ramadan in several Arab countries will be Thursday, March 23, when the Ramadan crescent becomes visible on Wednesday, March 22.
Meanwhile, Ramadan is more likely to begin on Friday, March 24, in India, Bangladesh and Pakistan where the crescent of Ramadan will not be visible until March 23.
Earlier, the Emirates Astronomical Society predicted that Ramadan 2023 would begin on March 23, while the first day of Eid Al Fitr will be on Friday, April 21.
“Ramadan this year will begin on Thursday, March 23 and will be for 29 days. Eid Al Fitr will be on Friday, April 21,” Ibrahim Al Jarwan chairman of the society, said.
