GUYANA: Pakistan’s hopes to win the T20I series against West Indies were dashed as the third match at National Stadium in Guyana was abandoned due to rain after the lapse of just 1.5 overs.
Andre Fletcher (14) and Chris Gayle (1) hit 15 runs after West Indies captain Kieron Pollard won the toss and chose to bat first. The match ended in no result — becoming the second match to be abandoned after the first T20I was washed out July 28.
Trailing 1-0 following a seven-run loss in the second match on Saturday, the home side brought in all-rounder Andre Russell as opening batsman Evin Lewis continues to struggle with an abdominal issue which forced him to retire hurt in the second game.
Pakistan also made one change to their winning line-up from the day before, as Shaheen Shah Afridi was replaced by fellow pacer Haris Rauf. The final match of the series will be played at the same venue on August 3.
