Air pollution remains a concern in most cities of Punjab today. Rahim Yar Khan recorded the highest levels of particulate matter at 433, followed by Sheikhupura with 294, Lodhran at 233, and Rawalpindi at 227 particulate matter levels.
The plains of Sindh and Punjab continue to be covered by dense fog, while heavy fog in Multan led to the closure of the M-5 motorway for traffic. Motorways from Khanewal, Multan, and Uch Sharif to Rahim Yar Khan are also closed due to poor visibility caused by the fog. The motorway police spokesperson confirmed that the M-1 motorway from Rashkai to Swabi has also been closed for traffic due to the intense fog.
In Karachi, the weather remains cold and pleasant today, with high humidity levels in the morning, intensifying the chill. Temperatures are expected to stay between 15 to 17 degrees Celsius, rising slightly during the day to around 20 degrees Celsius. Citizens may experience fog, particularly in the morning and evening, which will reduce visibility. The skies will remain cloudy with no chance of rain.
According to the Meteorological Department, light to moderate winds will blow at speeds of 10 to 15 km/h. People are advised to dress warmly and take care while traveling in the fog. Northern areas, including Skardu, Gupis, Astore, and Liyyah, are experiencing temperatures ranging from -6 to -7 degrees Celsius, while severe snowfall in Chitral has disrupted life, blocking access to higher regions.
