The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a heatwave alert, predicting a rise in temperatures across the province, while schools in the region have been directed to take measures to keep students safe.

According to the Director General (DG) of the PDMA, the mercury is likely to rise up to 7 degrees Celsius this month, with severe heatwave conditions likely in the plains and southern districts of Punjab.

In light of the potential health risks posed by the heat, the DG has urged the School Education Department to suspend outdoor activities for children to avoid heat-related illnesses. Furthermore, citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel, protect themselves from direct sunlight by covering their heads and stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.

The authorities also stressed the importance of ensuring that essential medicines are available to provide medical assistance to those affected by the heatwave.

The PDMA has asked the public to remain vigilant and take precautionary measures to stay safe during this period of severe weather. The authority has pledged to closely monitor the situation and provide timely updates as needed.

Authorities are urging residents to follow guidelines and remain aware of changing weather conditions to minimize the effects of the heat wave.
