The Punjab government has announced a major change to the academic schedule, declaring a four-day school week for all public and private institutions across the province. Under the new directive, schools will remain closed from Friday to Sunday, alongside revised daily timings for single and double-shift systems.
According to a notification issued by the School Education Department, all public and private schools will now remain closed on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, with classes taking place from Monday to Thursday until further notice.
The decision, approved by the competent authority, aims to streamline school operations and adjust to current requirements.

In addition to the change in weekly schedule, school timings have also been updated. Single-shift schools will operate from 8:00am to 1:30pm.
For double-shift institutions, the morning session will conclude at 12:30pm, while the second shift will run from 1:00pm to 5:30pm.
Authorities have directed all schools to strictly follow the new schedule and timings until any further amendments are announced.
