The Sindh government has declared a public holiday on April 23 (Tuesday) in the Karachi division in anticipation of the visit of foreign dignitaries, including Iranian President Dr. Ebrahim Raisi, aiming to prevent inconvenience to the general public.
Earlier today, the Foreign Office (FO) announced that the Iranian president would embark on an official visit to Pakistan from April 22 (Monday) to April 24 (Wednesday).
“The Iranian president will be accompanied by his spouse and a distinguished delegation consisting of the foreign minister, other cabinet members, senior officials, as well as a significant business delegation,” the FO stated.
“He is scheduled to visit Lahore and Karachi, where he will engage with provincial leadership,” the announcement continued.
As per a notification from Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi’s office, all government and private offices, as well as public and private educational institutions, will be closed on the specified date, with exceptions made for essential services and personnel engaged in emergency duties.
