The Sindh government on Saturday announced a public holiday on the annual Urs of Sufi saint Hazrat Syed Muhammad Usman Marwandi (Lal Shahbaz Qalandar) across the province.
According to a notification issued by the Sindh government, there will be a public holiday across the province on Feb 19, an account of the Urs of the Lal Shahbaz Qalandar
The Urs celebrations will formally begin on Feb 17. A large number of devotees from across the country have already reached Sehwan Sharif to attend Urs celebrations.
Strict security arrangements have been ensured to avoid any untoward incident.
The streets of Sehwan Sharif are flooded with devotees these days wearing the symbolic red and black dresses
Earlier in the day, 16 pilgrims were killed and several injured in two different bus accidents in different places in Sindh. The deceased and injured were en route to Sehwan Sharif when met the fatal accidents.
It should be noted that every year this kind of road accident takes place on the occasion of the Urs.
