Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President Pervaiz Elahi has been arrested by anti-corruption officials from Lahore outside his home on Thursday.
PTI President Pervaiz Elahi has been arrested by the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) officials and a police team from his residence, Zahoor Palace, in Lahore.
He was shifted to an undisclosed location by the police and ACE teams. The PTI president was booked in corruption cases in Mandi Bahauddin and Gujranwala.
The development came after an anti-corruption court last week discarded his interim bail over his failure to appear before the court citing health issues.
His arrest was required in the Rs70 million corruption case related to the embezzlement of development funds allocated for the Gujrat district.
The anti-corruption court judge also declared Elahi’s medical certificate bogus which claimed that he had been experiencing chest pain.
Absolutely shameful the way this regime keeps focusing on their fascism, instead of providing relief to people. The way they abducted and pushed former CM Punjab is not only shameful, but ridiculous too! https://t.co/ORf3DLoCGF

Caretaker Information Minister Punjab Amir Mir said that resistance was made during Pervaiz Elahi’s arrest today and he was not opening the door of his bulletproof vehicle. The PTI president was wanted to ACE Punjab, he added.
Condemning incident, the PTI said that it’s shameful how the regime doesn’t stop their fascism.
Shameful how the regime doesn’t stop their fascism. The inflation has skyrocketed to 38%, and their response is arresting former CM Punjab Parvez Elahi. Absolutely ridiculous! pic.twitter.com/epfQxGm47e
