ISLAMABAD: Pressing for an immediate hearing on PTI’s contempt petition hearing request, party leaders Barrister Gohar Khan and Sardar Latif Khosa met with the Supreme Court Registrar on Monday to urge swift judicial action against executive non-compliance.
The high-level delegation requested an urgent audience with Chief Justice Yahya Afridi following the party’s formal contempt filing over the government’s failure to execute the apex court’s August 18 interim order.
Barrister Gohar Meets Supreme Court Registrar
Speaking to reporters outside the apex court, Barrister Gohar confirmed that he and Latif Khosa formally urged the administration to fix the matter for hearing without delay. Barrister Gohar-led legal team stressed that the bench should take up the petition within twenty-four to forty-eight hours.
“The Registrar assured us that the file will be placed directly before the Chief Justice of Pakistan today,” Barrister Gohar stated. He emphasized that the entire nation waits to see whether the Supreme Court will enforce its own binding directives.
Seeking Urgent Enforcement of Hospital Directives
The legal push follows the government’s controversial overnight diversion on August 20–21, when authorities bypassed the ordered multi-week admission at Shifa International Hospital.
State officials instead moved the former premier to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for a brief, four-hour check-up before returning him to Adiala Jail.
Detailing the grounds for their contempt petition, the PTI Chairman highlighted that authorities completely excluded personal physicians Dr. Faisal Sultan and Dr. Asim Yousaf from the medical panel in direct defiance of judicial instructions. He reiterated that taking the party founder to PIMS instead of the designated private facility constitutes a clear violation of court mandates.
Barrister Gohar also dismissed persistent rumors of backroom negotiations, asserting that Imran Khan has not made any deal with the establishment. He added that the party leadership strictly acts upon the founder’s instructions and continues to demand full implementation of his basic fundamental rights.

Political observers believe the legal confrontation deepens as the federal government simultaneously refiles review applications to vacate the original transfer ruling.
