ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan welcomed the prime minister’s offer for negotiations and said political issues can only be resolved through political dialogue.
Speaking to reporters, Gohar Ali Khan said serious negotiations should begin and called the ban on meetings with PTI founder Imran Khan concerning. He requested that family meetings be arranged under all circumstances and said no one can be excluded in politics.
Gohar Ali Khan also welcomed the ceasefire in the Middle East and termed it a welcome development. He said establishment of peace in the region is a success for the whole world and expressed hope that the ceasefire would lay the foundation for an independent Palestinian state.
He added that jailing political opponents is not a democratic approach, meetings should be restored to improve the political environment, and now there is a need for political tolerance and dialogue instead of confrontation.
Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA Ali Muhammad Khan said the armed forces and the judiciary should not be criticized.
Speaking in the National Assembly session, Ali Muhammad Khan said criticism of the armed forces and judiciary must stop. He also said speeches of opposition leaders are not aired during assembly proceedings and that this ban should be lifted.
Responding to him, National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq said there is no such ban at all.
Later, PTI chairman Barrister Gohar addressed the session and said the broadcasts of their speeches in the house are stopped. He said even if the speeches are aired later, they should be aired.
The Speaker said he has to look after matters related to national security. Barrister Gohar replied that they do not say anything against national security.
