The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Wednesday witnessed positive sentiments from investors as buying spree helped the benchmark KSE-100 Index gain nearly 1,300 points.
At close, the benchmark index settled at 162,226.27, an increase of 1291.14 points or 0.8%.
Buying interest emerged across several major sectors, including automobile assemblers, cement, commercial banks, fertiliser, oil and gas exploration, OMCs, power generation and refineries.
Heavyweight stocks such as ARL, HUBCO, MARI, OGDC, POL, PPL, HBL, MCB, MEBL and UBL all traded in positive territory.
On Tuesday, however, the PSX came under intense selling pressure, resulting in a broadly bearish session.
The benchmark KSE-100 Index dropped sharply by 752.05 points, closing at 160,935.13, a decline of 0.47%.
Meanwhile, the Pakistani rupee posted a slight gain against the US dollar during Wednesday’s early interbank trading. At 10 a.m., the local currency was at 280.50, up Rs0.17, following Tuesday’s close at 280.67.
