KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) began the week on a buoyant note Monday, as the benchmark KSE-100 index climbed 993 points to reach 186,365.20 during the opening session.

The rally reflected broad-based investor confidence, with major indices posting gains across the board.

Market data at 9:40 AM showed trading volume at 48.5 million shares, with a value of Rs2.29 billion across 24,665 transactions. Out of 564 active symbols, 270 advanced, 86 declined, while 208 remained unchanged — underscoring a strong tilt towards positive sentiment.

The broader All-Share Index rose 651 points to 112,643.36, while the KSE-30 gained 315 points to 55,720.16. The KMI-30 index surged 1,638 points to 264,224.61, and the banking sector’s BKTI added 255 points to 52,261.48.

The upbeat start builds on last Friday’s close, when the KSE-100 had topped the 185,500 mark as bulls dominated trading, setting the stage for today’s continuation of momentum. Analysts noted that the strong opening suggests renewed investor appetite, particularly in blue-chip and banking counters, and sets a hopeful tone for the trading week ahead.
