KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) opened on a positive note Thursday, with the benchmark KSE‑100 index advancing as investors returned to selective buying after Wednesday’s sell‑off.
At 9:50 am, the KSE‑100 index climbed 689 points to 168,140.66, up 0.41 per cent. The broader All‑Share Index rose 422 points (0.42pc) to 101,423.51, while the KSE‑30 added 191 points (0.38pc) to 50,274.81.
Trading activity was steady, with 95 million shares worth Rs2.09 billion changing hands across 32,498 transactions. Market breadth tilted positive, as 290 scrips advanced against 82 declining, with 190 unchanged.
Sectoral indices reflected broad‑based gains: the KMI‑30 index surged 1,163 points (0.48pc), while the Banking Index (BKTI) added 139 points (0.31pc), suggesting renewed interest in financial and Shariah‑compliant counters.
Analysts said the rebound reflects value‑hunting after mid‑week losses, with investors eyeing opportunities in large‑cap and mid‑tier stocks. “The early uptick indicates confidence returning to the market, though sustainability will depend on institutional flows and clarity on macroeconomic signals,” a brokerage note observed.
