PSX extends rally as KSE‑100 crosses 185,000 mark

KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed a powerful surge at the start of Thursday’s session, with the benchmark KSE‑100 Index soaring 1,615 points, or 0.87 per cent, to reach 185,665 by mid‑morning.

The advance pushed the index firmly past the 185,000‑point threshold, underscoring the market’s bullish momentum on the fourth day of the business week.

The rally builds on Wednesday’s strong close, when the KSE‑100 settled at 184,050 after a massive 3,748‑point gain, reflecting heightened investor confidence and aggressive buying across sectors.

Market breadth remained supportive, with a majority of scrips advancing as investors capitalized on positive sentiment.

Analysts attributed the surge to easing inflationary pressures, improved liquidity flows, and optimism over external financing prospects. “The continuation of strong inflows and upbeat macro signals has kept equities buoyant, with investors positioning for sustained gains,” a brokerage note observed.

Other indices also tracked higher, while sectoral strength was particularly evident in banking and energy counters. Market watchers, however, cautioned that clarity on fiscal measures and external commitments will remain critical to sustaining the rally beyond the current momentum.
