Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 ‘Khul Ke Khel’, the much-awaited anthem for the upcoming edition has been launched by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Valentine’s Day.
Ali Zafar and Aima Baig sang the anthem for the ninth season, which gets underway on February 17, with defending champions Lahore Qalandars (LQ) taking on former winners Islamabad United (IU).
The new anthem expresses several facets of cricket, starting from the spirit of cricket, passion amongst players, drama in the T20 format, and most importantly a sense of unity, that the game brings out.
The title of the song ‘Khul Ke Khel’ roughly translates to playing with freedom, urging fans and cricketers to usher in excitement without any inhibitions.
This is the third time that Zafar is working for PCB on a PSL anthem, with his previous works being ‘Ab Khel Jamay Ga’ and ‘Mela Loot Liya’.
Mela Loot Liya came into existence after Pakistan cricket fans created an uproar against PCB’s decision to bring in other artists for the anthem after a string of flops.
Meanwhile, this is the second collaboration for Baig with PCB, having already produced the PSL 2022 anthem with Atif Aslam, and Abdullah Siddiqui named ‘Agay Dekh’.
