LAHORE: Islamabad United thrashed Lahore Qalandars by 71 runs at Gaddafi Stadium on Wednesday in the 17th match of the Pakistan Super League.
The Qalandars were fresh off their win against the Quetta Gladiators but could not maintain the winning streak and were unable to reach the allotted target. They were all out for 127 in 18.5 overs chasing a mammoth target of 199 runs.
Earlier, Colin Munro scored unbeaten 86 off 50 to help Islamabad United post 198-3 in 20 overs against Lahore Qalandars
Lahore Qalandars have won the toss and decided to field first against Islamabad United in the 17th match of the PSL. United got a strong start by openers Munro and Luke Ronchi as both scored 103 runs together in 11 overs.
Ronchi fell to Mohammad Hafeez in 12th over after scoring 48 runs off 31 balls including six boundaries and a six. Colin Ingram struck six boundaries to contribute 29 runs off 19 balls.
Asif Ali made 20 runs off just six deliveries with the help of three boundaries and a six. For Qalandars, Hafeez, Salman Irshad, and Mohammad Faizan bagged a wicket each.
The Qalandars batting line up failed. Ben Dunk, who has hit the highest number of sixes in the tournament after a powerful knock against Quetta, scored 25. Shadab Khan scored 30, Salman Butt 21, and Hafeez managed 10 runs while none of the others managed to reach two figures.
