ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday assured that provision of financial assistance to poor deserving families under Ehsaas Emergency Cash Programme would be purely transparent, merit-based and non-political.
Speaking in a live telethon of private news channel, the prime minister said continuous lockdown has adversely impacted the global economy and Pakistan is not spared from this pandemic.
The prime minister expressed fear that coronavirus cases would further increase and hospitals might face immense pressure in the coming days. He urged citizens to demonstrate utmost care and enforce social distancing to protect themselves from COVID-19.
He said the government would launch a website within next few days, where philanthropists and wealthy individuals would be able to provide financial assistance to the poor. He expressed confidence that the nation would emerge victorious in the fight against coronavirus through coordinated efforts of all concerned stakeholders.
The prime minister assured that the government would provide every possible facility to frontline paramedical staff, engaged in treating patients in various hospitals. Despite the limited resources, he said the government announced a historic stimulus package to provide relief to the corona-hit population.
Imran Khan said services of doctors and paramedical staff, who have registered with Prime Minister’s Corona Relief Tiger Force, would be hired to mitigate adverse impacts of coronavirus.
