Quetta: Amid escalating protests over alleged election rigging across various regions of the country, leaders of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and victorious candidates from Balochistan’s national and provincial assembly seats jointly declared during a press briefing that the party intends to establish a coalition government, led by a devoted chief minister.
Expressing disappointment, the elected members of the National Assembly (MNAs) and Provincial Assembly (MPAs) regretted the trend of defeated candidates and their parties resorting to harsh criticism of institutions, officials, and competitors. They conveyed their sentiments at the press conference held on Wednesday.
Highlighting that PPP secured the majority of seats in the province by winning 11 seats, while other parties fell short, the representatives emphasized their party’s entitlement to form a government in Balochistan. They noted ongoing discussions with other parties regarding the formation of a coalition government.
Among the MNAs-elect who addressed the press briefing were former Balochistan Chief Minister Nawabzada Jamal Khan Raisani and Malik Shah, alongside speakers such as Haji Ali Madad Jattak, Obaidullah, Abdul Samad, Mir Zahoor Ahmed Buledi, and Mir Asghar Rind, all declared successful in the provincial assembly elections.
PPP provincial leaders Mir Changez Jamali, Sardar Omer Gorgage, and Sardar Sarbaland Khan Jogezai also participated in the conference. They asserted that despite adverse propaganda against the PPP, the people of Quetta and other regions of Balochistan entrusted their mandate to the party, ensuring true representation in the parliament. Emphasizing PPP’s history of developmental initiatives whenever in power, they stressed the party’s commitment to the province’s progress.
