The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has emerged as the frontrunner in the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly elections, leading on 10 seats according to unofficial and unconfirmed results released after the completion of polling.
While vote counting continues across several constituencies, early trends indicate a strong performance by the PPP, with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), independent candidates, and other political parties trailing in a number of key contests.
Final results will be announced by the Election Commission after the completion of the counting process and official consolidation of votes.
Among the constituencies where complete unofficial results have been received:
In GBA-4 Nagar-I, PPP candidate Muhammad Ali Akhtar won with 7,530 votes, defeating Muhammad Ayub Waziri of Tehreek-e-Islami Pakistan, who secured 6,491 votes.
In GBA-7 Skardu-I, PPP candidate Syed Taqir Mehdi emerged victorious with 4,337 votes, while Raja Jalal Hussain Khan of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party finished second with 3,891 votes.
In GBA-22 Ghanche-I, PML-N candidate Muhammad Ibrahim Sanai won with 9,308 votes, ahead of PPP’s Ashiq Hussain, who received 8,052 votes.
In GBA-24 Ghanche-III, independent candidate Asad Shafiq secured victory with 8,092 votes, while PPP’s Muhammad Ismail finished second with 5,072 votes.
Partial unofficial results from several other constituencies show close contests between candidates of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), independent candidates, Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F), and the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party.
In Gilgit-I (GBA-1), PPP candidate Amjad Hussain was leading with 9,271 votes, while in Gilgit-II (GBA-2), former Chief Minister Hafizur Rehman of PML-N was ahead with 4,129 votes.
Independent candidates were also performing strongly in several constituencies, including Hunza, Ghizer, Diamer, and Ghanche, according to the latest unofficial tallies.
Election officials have emphasized that these results remain provisional and unofficial until the completion of vote counting and the formal announcement of results by the Election Commission.
