Post-Covid: How does the future of healthcare look?

MM News Staff by MM News Staff
March 24, 2022

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact the world while attacking the lives and livelihoods of many, it has exposed worrisome preexisting conditions in our healthcare system. Even well-established information about COVID-19 still remains limited among the general public, and a large portion of the population lack access to high-quality healthcare.

Pharmacies like emeds pharmacy are established with the goal to provide access to quality medicines and healthcare services to the masses. The lack of knowledge, starting with basic prevention, is upsetting. So, the healthcare experts are doing their part in providing the best options for benefiting your health!

Addressing Disparities In Our Society

We are all well aware that the most vulnerable among us have been hit the hardest.  People in the lower socioeconomic groups (who had more flawed knowledge of health even before the pandemic) and, of course, areas with the least developed health infrastructure are the most affected. People, regardless of their socioeconomic status, deserve equality in healthcare services. Deadly diseases are known to hit society’s most vulnerable people and areas first and hardest.

Another factor that will allow them to make the correct choices regarding their health will be to remove barriers and provide the proper facilities and guidance. Not only should there be appropriate access to information but also good healthcare facilities through which they could receive all the healthcare aid they require. This would allow consumers to gain the right to get diagnosed with great accuracy and choose the treatment options that are suitable for them

Initial Lesson We Learned: Could Early Intervention Prevent Disease?

We hope that moving forward, we can expect the early intervention to maintain health and soundness. The pandemic itself has shown that it is much easier to stay out of trouble than to get out of trouble. Several doctors firmly believe that since we are already living in a resource-constrained environment, it is preferable to invest money in preventative care.  Many experts believe that if they had first-hand knowledge of COVID-19 in the early stage, the massive outbreak could have been prevented. It is no doubt that prevention extends further than pandemics.

Similarly, we expect timely treatment of illnesses. This reduces the spending on healthcare significantly, but we could possibly prevent people from developing the said disease at all.

Preparing for Our Future: Driving Factors

Experts have identified the driving factors – heavily inspired by the world’s global experience with the pandemic – to prepare for the upcoming decade. This will allow us to battle every public health conundrum we might face.

Consumerism

Due to the pandemic, an expected number of the population will carry on with the new norms of their lives to keep up with current health issues. This will result in a sort of gateway for them. The constant consumerism of information regarding their health will allow them to access in-depth and actionable information. It is pretty similar to a common person showing up at the doctor’s office to know what’s wrong with him.

Healthcare Data Systems

Most governments developed the ability to respond quickly and quite flexibly to tackle the challenges of COVID-19. For instance, when it struck, Singapore moved quickly to establish dynamic dashboards like the Ministry of Health’s interactive COVID Situation Report. Many governments now have data about people’s income, housing among other things, which they could use to tailor their approach and create suitable health plans.

Utilising and Creating Strategies

Experts have noted that the private sector really stepped up in healthcare to provide for the people. They offered aid by manufacturing healthcare equipment and sharing data to support contact tracing. Private sectors even eased the distribution of medical supplies. They are exchanging communication strategies, equipment such as ventilators and finding ways to reach vulnerable communities.

Benefits of Technology

Technology’s role in the COVID-19 pandemic has been extraordinary. The role of technology during the COVID-19 pandemic included linking user databases to facilitate contact tracing in countries like South Korea. Not only did technology play a key role in ensuring that healthcare could continue being fully functional, but it proved to be a system that excelled at solving the labyrinths of medical issues.

Without a doubt, digital tools were considered valuable in the field of medicine long before the pandemic. For instance, a technology player developed an application to boosting healthcare access for disadvantaged people in sub-Saharan Africa. This led to the early detection of measles outbreaks. We are bound to see more and improved digital healthcare in the near future.

Importance of Communication

The COVID-19 updates have been communicated to the public in such a way that they influenced positive compliance and resulted in positive outcomes. This form of communication includes messaging and clear notes for specific public health safety.

In simple words, the communication strategies adopted by the governments will continue to have a positive impact in the field of medicine. Moving forward, clear communications, outreach, and trust will continue to be essential to improve public health as it is especially critical for minorities and vulnerable communities.

Holistic View of Health

The world’s reaction to the pandemic and how it seems to worsen for several countries proves the lack of preparation for such circumstances. This is a direct link to the fact that these countries – we are not prepared for the future. Many challenges await us after the pandemic, including health and social issues. Governments should take a holistic view to even consider protecting their people.

Plans should be implemented and incorporated into urban planning with health and social justice in mind. Government should also update the Infrastructure accordingly. For example, Shenzhen city constructed parks that have a double advantage. They serve as outdoor areas but also act as “sponges” for floods.

Healthtech

In this era of technological advances, we have all come to use and appreciate the profound steps taken to make our lives easier. Especially with the health care’s recognition of emerging platforms and applications for service delivery and information dissemination.

This era of ‘eHealth’ provides access to the primary healthcare needs to marginalised communities! eHealth or electronic health is a reasonable solution to meet the ever so growing demand for healthcare. We need innovation in this field to help ease the burden while providing the fundamental and rightful healthcare products everyone needs!
