KARACHI: A policeman opened fire at a civilian in Karachi for refusing to be his child vaccinated against poliovirus. The injured was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
The incident took place near New Karachi Sector 5-F Allahwali Mosque.
After the firing incident, the masses of the area surrounded the police mobile while Rangers also reached the spot to control the situation.
The injured has been identified as 35-year-old Aqeel Ahmed son of Naseem. The cop involved in the firing has been taken into custody and shifted to the police station.
According to sources, Aqeel, a young man who was shot and injured by police in New Karachi, works at the Pakwan Center with his father.
The young man complained to the polio workers that his children have been vaccinated against polio more than 100 times. Two days ago, they were also vaccinated. There is no man at home and he has to come back home to get the children vaccinated. After the heated argument, the cop opened fire on the citizen.
