Police arrest 3 suspects in rape, murder of minor girl

ISLAMABAD: Police have arrested the main suspects accused of sexually abusing and killing an 11-year-old minor girl in Bari Imam area of Islamabad.

The victim named Aqsa, daughter of Muhammad Yusuf Gopang, was killed after been subjected to sexual assault in a house located just two kilometers away from Secretariat police station.

The family of the girl hailed from a suburban area of tehsil Alipur in Muzaffargarh and were living in Islamabad for the past two decades.

Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) and Secretariat police station conducted a joint raid and arrested three suspects. They have been identified as Muhammad Khursheed, Syed Shahsawar ad Hammad Naqvi.

The suspects have reportedly confessed to killing the minor girl, saying that they strangled her and hung her body from the ceiling to portray it as a suicide. Police have conducted geo-fencing of the crime scene.

The suspect Khursheed also has a past criminal record and has confessed that they killed the girl after she started screaming. The investigation officer said the suspects are being interrogated and are expected to make further disclosures.

The victim’s father said they have not yet received the post-mortem report of his daughter or included rape clauses in the complaint. He said the culprits should be given an exemplary punishment and justice should be served.
