The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Wednesday issued an alert for extremely hot and dry weather conditions across most parts of the country.
As per the Met Office, daytime temperatures are expected to soar between 45 to 50°C in several districts, particularly between 11 am and 4 pm — the hottest hours of the day. The extreme heat is likely to persist over the coming days, with no significant rainfall expected in major cities.
Islamabad and surrounding areas will remain under the grip of intense heat and dryness, while much of Punjab, including Lahore, is likely to experience similar weather patterns. The provincial capital is forecast to record temperatures as high as 46°C, with the sun blazing at full intensity. The Met Office has not forecast any rainfall in the region so far.
Strong and dusty winds are expected during the afternoon in the plains of Punjab, potentially aggravating the hot conditions.
In Sindh and Balochistan, most districts are likely to face extreme heat, particularly the plains of Balochistan, where temperatures are projected to stay at dangerously high levels.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) will also experience sweltering heat in its plains. However, the Met Department has predicted light rainfall in the upper parts of the province, including Chitral, Dir, Swat, and adjoining areas. Despite the showers, overall weather in the region is likely to remain hot and dry.
Similar conditions are expected in Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, where no significant relief from the heat is forecast.
