PM to inaugurate Torkham border to boost trade

PESHAWAR: Prime Minister Imran Khan will be inaugurating the Torkham border between Afghanistan and Pakistan on 14th September to boost the trade.
Chief Minister KPK Mehmood Khan in a video message said, “Prime Minister Imran Khan will inaugurate the Torkham border on Saturday.”
The chief minister said, “Pak-Afghan border at Torkham has been opened for 24 hours on the instructions of prime minister Imran Khan.”
According to the chief minister said that trade towards Central Asia would get growth by the opening of the border.
He said that all preparations in this regard have been completed. He has hoped that the decision would bring job opportunities in Afghanistan.
Mehmood Khan said that misconceptions between both sides of the border would be ended by the action. He said that the decision would likely boost bilateral trade and cooperation between two Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Earlier on 2nd September, Pakistan and Afghanistan opened the Torkham border on a trial basis kicking off 24-hour trade activities and transportation services.
Previously in January, Prime Minister Khan ordered the officials concerned to make arrangements within six months for keeping the Torkham border crossing to Afghanistan open 24 hours a day.
One of the busiest ports of entry between the two neighbouring countries, Torkham is located along the 2,500 km international border that separates Pakistan and Afghanistan.
