Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has described Pakistan’s rapidly growing population as the country’s biggest national challenge and called for stronger measures to promote population welfare and family planning.
Chairing a review meeting on population welfare, the prime minister directed officials to convene a meeting of the National Population Council at the earliest opportunity.
Shehbaz Sharif said that controlling population growth should be regarded as a national responsibility and emphasized the need for effective measures to address the issue.
He stated that maintaining a balanced population is essential for sustainable national development and stressed that population planning must be aligned with the country’s economic stability and long-term development goals.
The prime minister also instructed authorities to strengthen coordination and collaboration with provincial governments on population welfare initiatives.
He further emphasized that an effective public awareness campaign would play a vital role in addressing the challenges posed by rapid population growth.
