PM questions Rs.417 billion of funds given to KP in 10 years

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has claimed that the federal government has been giving funds to KP under the NFC awards since 2010 which makes the total amount of Rs417 billion, adding that only God knows where these funds have vanished.

He was speaking at the federal cabinet meeting, which met here on Wednesday.

PM Shehbaz Sharif paid rich tributes to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the sacrifices rendered in the war on terrorism. He said the KPK has remained our front line province in this war and its sacrifices will always be remembered in history.

The PM said that the province of KP had been given four hundred and seventeen billion rupees since 2010 to improve its counter terrorism capability. He said this was the right of the KPK but the question arises as to where that amount was spent since the PTI was ruling the province for 10 years.

Earlier, the PM expressed serious concerns over the resurgence of terrorism in the country, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and said if immediate and effective steps were not taken, the despicable incidents may spread to other parts of the country.

He recalled that the defeat was inflicted on the terrorist elements through Radd-ul-Fasaad and Zarb-e-Azb operations because of which peace was restored in the country. He said people belonging to different walks of life including politicians rendered their lives in the war against this menace.  However the resurfacing of the terrorist elements is a matter of concern.
