WASHINGTON: The Commander of United States Central Command, General Kurilla, called Pakistan’s Chief of the Army Staff, General Asim Munir Ahmed Shah, to express his condolences to the people of Peshawar, following Monday’s terrorist attack.
According to CENTCOM’s Twitter post, the two leaders spoke about counterterrorism and border security.
According to a previous statement issued by the US CENTCOM, General Asim Munir and General Kurilla have a previously established relationship from General Kurilla’s time as CENTCOM Chief of Staff.

On December 2, General Kurilla congratulated General Munir on his new position (after assuming responsibility as the new Army Chief) and the two leaders discussed US-Pakistan security cooperation efforts and strengthening the bilateral relationship.

Gen Kurilla also visited visited Islamabad from December 14-16 to hold meetings with Pakistani military leadership, and to conduct a review of troops and discuss bilateral security cooperation and efforts to promote regional stability.
