ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has announced that Prime Minister Imran Khan will head a new campaign for the rights of the people of Indian Occupied Kashmir (IoK) starting from January 25.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad today (Thursday), FM Qureshi said that the purpose of the campaign is to show the world about the ground realities in Indian Occupied Territory.
FM Qureshi said that fundamental rights of the people in IoK are being violated by India, adding, “According to Simla agreement, India and Pakistan were supposed to hold bilateral talks on Kashmir.”
He further said, “However, as you have seen, their focus is more towards unilateralism than bilateral talks,”
The foreign minister said that PM Imran has a very clear policy on truthfully shedding light on the troubles of Kashmiris.
Referring to PM Imran’s meeting with US President Donald Trump, FM Qureshi said that PM Imran had informed the US president about the “complexities” of the Kashmir issue and urged Trump and the UN to intervene for a solution.
“PM Imran informed Trump about the dangers that the world faced if two nuclear powers confronted each other,” he added.
FM Qureshi said that Pakistan was successful in its efforts to highlight the issue of occupied Kashmir at the UN Security Council, adding that Pakistan wishes to let Kashmiris know that the people of the country continue to stand by them.
