ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited the United Arab Emirates on Sunday and offered condolences on the demise of UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan.
During his meeting with the newly-elected UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, the prime minister expressed his deepest condolences on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan.
Other members of the royal family were also present at the condolence reference. Shehbaz Sharif conveyed best wishes to Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan upon assuming his responsibilities as the new President of the UAE.
PM Shehbaz Sharif conveyed that the Pakistani nation fully shared the grief and sorrow of their Emirati brethren and stood by them in this difficult time. He offered prayers for the departed soul.
The prime minister stated that Pakistan had lost a sincere friend and trusted partner in the passing away of Sheikh Khalifa. He lauded his invaluable contributions in strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries, for which he will always be remembered by the people of Pakistan.
He paid tributes to Khalifa bin Zayed’s dynamic leadership under which the UAE transformed into a major economic powerhouse. He affirmed that Sheikh Khalifa’s legacy would continue to inspire the generations of Emiratis.
The prime minister also conveyed best wishes to Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan upon assuming his responsibilities as the new President of the UAE. He expressed the confidence that the newly-elected President would take the UAE to new heights of development and progress.
Sheikh Mohamed conveyed sincere gratitude to the Prime Minister, the leadership and the people of Pakistan for their solidarity with the UAE in this hour of grief.
MeanwhilePresident Dr Arif Alvi congratulated Sheikh Muhammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan on his election to the office of President of the United Arab Emirates.
In his felicitation message, the president said Pakistan highly valued its brotherly relations with UAE. He expressed the confidence that under Sheikh Muhammad’s leadership, these bilateral ties between the two countries would grow further.
