ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Wednesday announced to begin flights between Quetta and Gwadar to promote tourism and trade activities.
According to PIA officials, the national carrier has decided to operate flights between Quetta and Gwadar twice a week from March 31.
The flights will functional on Tuesday and Thursday every week at 12 pm although on the same day the flight will depart from Gwadar to Quetta at 2:45 pm.
Furthermore, on the instruction of officials the Gwadar airport administration has started preparations for the PIA flight operation.
The PIA authority plans to promote the central runway of the Quetta airport in accordance with international standards which will increase the capability of the airport to host heavy and long-range flights.
There were no flight operations from Quetta to other cities of Balochistan at present. The move comes after Balochistan Chief Minister and Federal Aviation Minister launched the international arrival and departure sections of the Quetta airport.
