PIA Crew Member Convicted After Fake Canadian Border Stamps Found in Luggage Hina Sani, a flight attendant of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight, has been found guilty of possessing and smuggling counterfeit Canadian border stamps, according to a recent court ruling.
The 46-year-old crew member was convicted after Canadian border officials discovered two counterfeit rubber port stamps hidden inside her suitcase during a secondary inspection at Toronto Pearson International Airport.
Sani had arrived in Toronto on March 28, 2024, aboard PIA flight PK-789 from Lahore. The stamps were allegedly designed to resemble those used by Canadian border officers to certify legal entry into the country and indicate the length of a traveler’s authorized stay.
During court proceedings, Sani maintained that she was unaware of the exact nature of the items and had only agreed to transport them as a favor for an acquaintance.
The court rejected her defense and found her guilty of possessing and smuggling counterfeit government instruments.
Authorities said, however, that the wider international network allegedly connected to the counterfeit stamps, as well as their intended recipients, remains unknown.
