KARACHI: The president of the Water Tanker Owners Association has filed a petition in the Sindh High Court accusing the managing director of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board of water theft.
According to details, President Karachi Water Tanker Owners Association Sardar Abdul Hameed has made 18 officers including KWSB, Police and Sindh government as respondents in the petition for not preventing the water theft.
According to plaintiff, it is illegal to supply water to water tankers with a capacity of more than 3,000 gallons on the hydrants of the KWSB, while tankers of 10,000 gallons are being filed with water.
The petitioner stated that it is illegal to fill heavy tankers on six hydrants including NIPA, Future Colony, and Sakhi Hassan, while water theft is a serious crime and water of citizens is being stolen.

The petitioner further said that KSWB MD and other board officers receive illegal income per month by selling the stolen water in large industries, residential flats and Defence Housing Authority (DHA) leading to a water crisis in the city.
The President of Water Tanker Owners said in the petition that water theft also has a severe negative impact on their business. The MD Water Board has not acted on our numerous requests for evidence of water theft and is complacent in the activities, he said.
