LAHORE: Opposition’s Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) summit will be held today in which other decisions including long march and resignations will be considered.
According to details, a strategy for resignations and long march will be formulated at the PDM summit today. Maulana Fazlur Rehman, head of the PDM, will preside over the anti-government summit.
The recommendations of the steering committee will be considered in today’s PDM meeting. A decision on the long march and resignations is also expected. The deadline for resignations is expected to be announced and a clear roadmap for the long march is expected.
Yesterday, former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi chaired a meeting of the PDM steering committee in which a consensus was reached among the opposition leaders on the long march and resignations. The steering committee made recommendations for the long march and resignations.
The PDM summit is expected to make recommendations in support of the long march and resignations today. The steering committee had unanimously decided that conventions and protest rallies would be held in all four provinces before the long march.
PDM spokesman Hafiz Hamdullah said that the recommendations of the PDM steering committee would be presented at today’s summit. Party leaders will approve the recommendations. The opposition coalition wants five years of government to be over.
