LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has on Friday dismissed Sarfraz Ahmed as captain across all three formats of the matches.
According to sources, Babar Azam and Imad Wasim and Mohammad Hafeez are being considered to lead Pakistan as a captain.
During the consultation, Sarfaraz Ahmed’s participation in the Test squad was discussed and it is learned that Sarfaraz can be dropped from the Tests.
After a disappointing show in the T20I series against Sri Lanka, Pakistan will now face Australia, Down Under.
The team was whitewashed by number eight Sri Lanka in three-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series held recently in Lahore. Sarfraz Ahmed had failed to perform in the series with the bat.
The green shorts will leave for Sydney on October 27 to play three T20I matches and two Tests in Australia in November and December.
The squad will be re-consulted before the announcement, with the national team departing for Australia on 27th October for a series of three T20Is and two Tests.
